Technical Information


The SandPit Theatre is a professional performance venue on the campus of Sandringham School, St Albans. Opened in December 2001, the theatre serves much of Hertfordshire and has proved to be an invaluable asset both to the school and the community.


We cater for professional, amateur and community theatre as well as being a great space for corporate events and rehearsals.


The SandPit is a multi purpose performance space, comprising of:


· Auditorium with 268 raked seats

· Entrance foyer

· Fully stocked cafe and bottle bar

· Fully equipped box office including online, phone and counter sales

· Large stage with black masking

· Spacious backstage area

· Three large, three medium and two individual dressing rooms

· Control balcony with a modern sound and lighting system

· Disabled facilities

· Baby change facilities

The SandPit is looking to the future and how we can develop the theatre. Over the last five years a new LX grid has been installed including a part motorised winch bar system, sound and lighting equipment has been upgraded including a full set of 10 lapel and 4 handheld radio microphones new operating desks and a cue light system. We are now looking to


The SandPit Theatre is available to hire for almost any occasion. If you want to put on a show, have a conference or organise a workshop then this the place for you.

       

We have many loyal companies and clients that use our space ranging from: dance schools in Hertfordshire to professional youth theatre companies. We also hold many corporate events such as St.Albans District Sports Awards and Keystone workshops. As well as this we are widely used as a rehearsal space for band rehearsals, music video shoots and performing arts classes.
